The global Christian community was struck with deep sorrow on Easter Monday as the news of Pope Francis’ passing reverberated around the world. The Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (CAMPAN), Ahiara Diocese, Mbaise, Imo State, joined the global Church in mourning this monumental loss.
In a statement, CAMPAN President Ben Osuagwu described Pope Francis’ departure as both a solemn moment and a reflection of his deep connection with God. “His passing on Easter Monday is symbolic of his enduring faith and spiritual legacy,” the statement read.
Pope Francis, known for his unwavering commitment to peace and reform, left an indelible mark on the Catholic Church. His initiatives reshaped ecclesiastical policies, making the Church more inclusive and responsive to contemporary challenges.
During his papacy, he tirelessly advocated for the marginalized and worked to bridge divisions within and beyond the Church.

CAMPAN expressed gratitude for the Pope’s leadership and prayed for the Church as it embarks on the process of selecting his successor. “We trust God to guide the Church in choosing a worthy leader who will continue to steer it in the path of righteousness,” Osuagwu said.
