To Hold Town Hall Meetimg In London, Political Summit In Owerri
A leading socio political group championing the quest of Owerri zone to produce the next governor of Imo State in 2027, the Owerri Zone Awareness Coalition (OZAC), has unveiled plans to realize its campaign to ensure that the next governor of the State in 2027 emerges from the Zone.
In a statement signed by its President, Emmanuel Okwu, the coalition said it will organize a Town Hall meeting in London, which will be attended by Imolites in the Diaspora, especially those from Owerri zone.
“The Town Hall meeting is part of series of broad consultations embarked on by OZAC leadership to aggregate and galvanize support for the legitimate quest of Owerri Zone to produce Governor Hope Uzodimma’s successor in 2027.
“The town hall meeting will provide the desired platform to cross-pollinate ideas and discuss freely how best to genuinely and legitimately actualize the age-long quest of an Imo State Governor of Owerri Zone extraction in 2027,” the statement partly read.
“Thereafter, we shall take our campaign to illustrious sons and daughters of Owerri Zone in the Diaspora and at home to seek their support and engagement for this noble cause,”the statement stated.
OZAC stated that its executives, led by its president, Emmanuel Okwu, have already kick-started talks with some prominent Imolites across the three zones in the State.
“We believe that Owerri Zone alone cannot realize this quest on a platter. We need the support and involvement of Okigwe and Orlu Zones because we believe their support is paramount, strategic and key to the realization of our objectives.
“Our President, Dr. Emmanuel Okwu, has held fruitful discussions with some prominent Imolites across the three zones. These Imolites comprise opinion moulders, politicians and businessmen who have excelled in various fields of human endeavor, including those who have attained commanding heights in various sectors of the global economy,” OZAC stated.
It noted that the consultations will continue, stating that it intends to hold Owerri Zone Political Summit in Owerri by mid-2026.
“Our approach to achieving this task is multidimensional, engaging and more proactive,” it noted.
OZAC reiterated that its searchlight is still beaming on five credible individuals from Owerri Zone, stating that its assessment of such individuals is ongoing.
“We have shortlisted five persons from Owerri zone, as we announced early this year. We said so from the onset, and we have continued our searchlight and assessment of these individuals, which is ongoing,” the statement concluded.
