The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), the apex youth organization for the Igbo race worldwide, has declared a plan to enforce what it calls a “political tsunami” in 2027, targeting all past and present Igbo political office holders.
This announcement, made by the group’s National President, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, hints at a mass “retirement” of governors, senators, House of Representatives members, House of Assembly members, and political appointees in the Southeast.
“It is unfortunate that the lack of political education has caused the vast majority of Ndigbo and Pro-Biafrans to mistakenly believe that the federal government is solely responsible for the marginalization of Ndigbo. In reality, Igbo politicians and political office holders are responsible for 75% of the marginalization, while the federal government accounts for only 25%,” Igboayaka stated.
The OYC leader called on over 50 million Igbo youths, both at home and in the diaspora, to prepare for a political revolution.
“There is a need for a political tsunami, a ballot revolution, that will sweep away past and present Igbo political office holders in 2027,” he declared.
Referencing the historical courage of Igbo women, he remarked, “It is vital at this stage for Igbo youth to harness the audacity and spirit of resistance exemplified by the ‘Aba Women Resistance’ of 1929. For over 25 years, Igboland has been ravaged by political vampires and scavengers who have left our people in extreme economic and political marginalization, which has ultimately ignited the Biafra Agitation.”
Igboayaka decried the failure of Southeast leaders to address critical issues affecting Ndigbo, listing specific grievances.
“The orchestrated conspiracy by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) against Ndigbo, the poor condition of federal roads in the Southeast, approval of outdated single-gauge rails, exclusion from over 300 billion naira irrigation projects, and retrenchment of Southeast directors from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) highlight the neglect of our leaders,” he said.
He continued, “Despite the Southeast being the greatest importers and exporters in Nigeria, we lack seaports, international airports, and industrial gas pipelines. This is clear evidence of economic marginalization.”
On the issue of insecurity, Igboayaka was unequivocal. “Unfortunately, we are being killed every day by Fulani herders, invaders, and jihadists. More casualties have been recorded in Enugu and Ebonyi, followed by Imo, Abia, and Anambra. Yet, Southeast political office holders remain docile and inactive in protecting lives and properties in Igboland,” he lamented.
The OYC president also called for self-defense initiative.
“All community youth leaders should rise and mobilize the youth for defensive mechanism strategies by any means necessary to protect Alaigbo now, to avoid the ‘Cry of Benue.’” he stated.
He attributed the growing insecurity to a conspiracy, alleging, “The insecurities afflicting the Southeast since 2021, reportedly engineered by Nigeria’s former President Muhammadu Buhari, aimed to tarnish the image of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and classify it as a terrorist organization. This could not have succeeded without the passivity and accommodation of Igbo political office holders.”
The impact of insecurity, according to Igboayaka, has been devastating.
“The ineptitude of Southeast political office holders has led to the loss of over 10,000 lives and nine trillion naira worth of businesses and properties. This has forced over 30,000 Igbo youths to migrate from their homeland, causing a significant loss of human capital,” he emphasized.
He criticized Igbo political leaders, accusing them of undoing the progress made under Dr. M.I. Okpara.
“Since the genocide of 1967-1970, Igbo political office holders have guided Ndigbo toward political subordination and economic deterioration. These Excellencies have dishonored Alaigbo with executive and legislative impunity,” he said.
Encouraging Igbo youths to join the movement, he declared, “It is essential that Igbo youths key into the ongoing mobilization of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) to take effective resilient action in 2027. We must retire these unproductive political characters who are as barren as the fig tree Jesus Christ recommended cutting down.”
Igboayaka announced the OYC’s strategy for 2027, saying, “There will certainly be ‘Oso Oppressive Politicians’ in Igboland by 2027. This is the only way to restore the dignity of Ndigbo and prepare the future of the unborn Igbo generation, which has been mortgaged by Igbo transactional politicians and saboteurs.”
“Given the significance of Ndigbo’s history, it is essential for fresh political aspirants to gear up, tighten their seatbelts, and prepare for a Democratic Political Ballot Revolution in 2027 with 100% political substitution,” Igboayaka concluded.
