A group of persons who were students and beneficiaries of the benevolence of the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the prestigious Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Nnenna Oti, has cautioned an online medium, Phoenix, for wrongly placing her picture on a publication that does not involve her.
The group said the publication with the headline, “FUTO Vice Chancellor Faces Govt Heat: FG Orders Immediate Reversal of 24 Aide Appointments,” is meant for the current Vice Chancellor of FUTO, Prof. Ikechukwu Nosike Simplicious Dozie, whose picture should have been used.
Reacting to the publication, which has gone viral on social media, the leader of the group, Comr. Nwachukwu Michael, told Phoenix to remove Prof. Nnenna Oti’s picture from the publication, saying the wrong placement of her picture on the image-damaging publication was out of place and should not be taken for granted.
The group urged the public to ignore the picture of Prof. Nnenna Oti on the publication by Phoenix Media.
“We totally and strongly condemn the misleading picture of Prof. Nnenna Oti, former FUTO Vice Chancellor, used in Phoenix Online Publication.
“We, the students and beneficiaries of her goodwill, are calling on Phoenix to be professional and hence remove her picture from the publication, which does not concern her in any way,” the group maintained.
