Professor Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe, Coordinator of the Forum of Imo State Government Ex-Appointees (2011–2019), has described the death of renowned cultural figure Paddy Obinna as a significant loss to the cultural and artistic community. Obinna died on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, after a brief illness.
In a tribute, Ajumbe said the late Obinna was not only a friend but also a dependable ally whose warmth and friendliness endeared him to everyone who came in contact with him. He noted that the deceased made remarkable contributions to the arts and culture sector, describing him as a creative genius whose passing has left a huge vacuum.
According to Ajumbe, the cultural world has suffered a major setback with Obinna’s death, adding that his legacy would continue to inspire generations of artists and cultural enthusiasts. He urged family, friends and associates to take solace in the impactful life the late cultural icon lived.
He also disclosed that, according to Obinna’s first son, the late cultural advocate will be buried on August 19, 2026. Ajumbe prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and for God to grant his family the strength to bear the loss.
