*As Lawmaker Pledges Sustained Effective Representation, Youth Development
The apex umbrella youth body of Orlu Senatorial Zone, the Orluzurumee Youth Assembly (OYA), has conferred a Distinguished Legislative Excellence Award and Certificate on Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu, Member representing Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency, in recognition of his emergence as the Best Performing Member of the House of Representatives from Orlu Senatorial Zone.
The award was presented during a courtesy visit by the National Executive Council of the Orluzurumee Youth Assembly to the lawmaker on Thursday at his residence in Akokwa, Ideato North LGA.
Presenting the award, the National President of the Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, Prince Izunna Obiefule, JP, stated that the honour followed the outcome of the Orluzurumee Youth Assembly Legislative Performance Assessment, which evaluated the performance of legislators representing Orlu Senatorial Zone during the 2023–2026 Legislative Session.
According to him, Ikenga Ugochinyere emerged as the highest-rated Member of the House of Representatives from the zone after a comprehensive, evidence-based and impartial assessment conducted by the Assembly’s Legislative Performance Assessment Committee, led by Comrade Achi Nnamdi.
Obiefule explained that the award was instituted to recognise excellence in legislative service, encourage accountability and inspire higher standards of representation across Orlu Senatorial Zone.
He commended Ugochinyere for his commitment to effective representation and encouraged him to sustain the high standard of leadership that earned him the recognition.
“The Orluzurumee Youth Assembly is here to recognise excellence and to encourage you to do even more for the people of Ideato North and Ideato South Federal Constituency. We believe that outstanding public service deserves public recognition and we urge you to continue providing effective, inclusive and people-centred representation,” Obiefule stated.
Obiefule reiterated that the Legislative Performance Assessment was conceived as a non-partisan civic initiative designed to promote democratic accountability and encourage improved legislative performance, adding that it was neither intended to disparage any individual nor directed against any political party.
Responding, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu expressed appreciation to the Orluzurumee Youth Assembly for what he described as a fair and objective assessment of lawmakers representing Orlu Senatorial Zone.
He described the recognition as a source of encouragement and pledged to continue providing effective representation to the people of Ideato North and Ideato South Federal Constituency.
The lawmaker stated that his involvement in politics and public service is driven by a desire to improve the lives of the people through responsive leadership, quality representation, youth empowerment, infrastructure development and effective constituency engagement.
He observed that poverty, insecurity, unemployment and underdevelopment can only be addressed through visionary leadership, strong institutions, accountability and people-oriented governance.
Ugochinyere also commended the Orluzurumee Youth Assembly for institutionalising legislative performance assessment as a civic accountability initiative, noting that objective evaluation encourages elected representatives to remain focused on delivering meaningful development to their constituents.
He reaffirmed his commitment to expanding youth empowerment programmes, supporting educational initiatives, creating employment opportunities and executing impactful constituency projects that will continue to improve the welfare of the people.
