A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Abia State, Chief Charles Ogbonnaya has declared that no amount of threat of litigation or bullying will stop him from campaigning for good governance and quality representation in the state.
He also declared that he was ready to meet the opposition in court to defend his stance as well substantiate any allegations he had made against any of them.
Reacting to the threat by the Representative of Ikwuano/ Umuahia federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Obi Aguocha to sue him for defamation and cyber bullying, Ogbonnaya said he was prepared to accept the gauntlet.
” I am happy to hear him threatening to take me to court. Tell Obi Aguocha that I will meet him in court so that the people of our Constituency will know who between him and me is lying ” he submitted.
Ogbonnaya popularly known as Evulogu Ibeku ,however challenged Obi Aguocha to explain to the people why there is no indigene of the three local government areas that he represents working as a legislative aide in his office.
According to him, whereas there is a provision for members of the House of Representatives to engage five legislative aide each for their offices, Aguocha has only two and non of them is from Ikwuano or Umuahia.
” His secretary is from Kogi State while his senior legislative aide is fro. Enugu State. Why is Aguocha denying our people of employment?” ,he queried.
Chief Ogbonnaya, a two time commissioner in the state said Aguocha has resorted to blackmail and threats because he has failed abysmally as the Representative of the people in the last three years.
According to him, both in the core assignment of making laws and assisting the people through empowerment and employment, Obi Aguocha has disappointed the people and knows that he can’t return to the House of Representatives in 2027.
” He is now resorting to name calling and threats of litigation. Of all people, Obi Aguocha knows that I am not afraid of such cheap political postulstions. When I speak ,I speak with facts. I hereby challenged all of them to take me to court and I will meet them there”, he insisted.
Evuleogu Ibeku said it was chidish for Obi Aguocha to accuse him of fronting for his opponent and former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji.
Said he: As an APC member and indeed DG of the Governorship candidate, I am openly campaigning for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in Abia state including Chief Chinedum Orji. I have no apology for that, he declared.
He also described as political naivety the often reference of an EFFC case against Chinedum Orji as if he has been convicted of any crime.
He challenged Aguocha to mention his achievements in office in the last three years and stop resorting to name calling and blackmail.
