Newly inaugurated local government chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State have been told to work tirelessly for the party because “staying in opposition is not a death sentence”.
According to a statement released by PDP New Media Centre, Monday on the swearing in of the LGA party Chairmen at the state party headquaters, Owerri, it quoted the Minority leader and Member representing Ezinihitee Mbaise in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Anyadike, to have made the remark at the swearing in of the LG party Chairmen.
The inauguration took place months after the party held its controversial ward and local government congresses. The state congress is yet to be held.
He said ”To be in opposition is not a death sentence but its a choice because we are the ones that will checkmate the government of the day.
“We have to make sure what the government is doing is the right thing, but in our party, we have to work like election is tomorrow. If we work as if the election is tomorrow, believe you me come 2023, this victory will be times 3 of what we had in 2019.”
Acting Chairman of the party, Martins Ejiogu, who also spoke at the inauguration urged the Chairmen to return to their domain, work for the party and look out for those who may be working against the interest of the party
