Enugu APC Endorses Buhari For Second Term

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Enugu State chapter, has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office.

The party made the declaration on Saturday, where it also called for the immediate resignation of Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs minister, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama.

This was announced by the Enugu State chairman of APC, Dr. Ben Nwoye at a press briefing.

He urged other presidential aspirants on the platform of the party not to be deceived by certain groups in the State who were scheming to drain their pockets.

‎Nwoye described President Buhari as a great reformer, who had shown total commitment towards Nigeria’s development.

Calls for Onyeama’s resignation was hinged on his alleged abysmal performance, which the party said climaxed at the just concluded United Nations General Assembly.

He particularly congratulated President Buihari for his successful outing at the United Nations General Assembly in the US, and for once again putting the nation’s face on the map of world politics.

“I want to congratulate our dear President on his outing at the UN and his performance; despite the whole story of the death wishers, he did not only come home and resumed duty but he has continued to move around and took time to address the United Nations and put our face again on the map of the world politics.

“So, I congratulate him on that particular safe and sound trip.

“Let me use this opportunity to say that Enugu State APC in its entirety has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term. He is our president, he is a performing president, and we the members of APC want to resoundingly endorse him for second term.

“Our office in Aso Rock is not vacant, there is no vacancy there. And we will not accept or admit any one else coming under APC or any pretentious guise or on any auspices to run or seek our support for 2019; it will be a project that will be moribund,” he said.

The APC Chairman accused the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Onyama, as well as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Judicial Review, Mrs. Juliet Ibekaku of sponsoring an illegal faction of APC in Enugu State.

He also alleged that the duo were sponsoring different groups who are working for the emergence of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as presidential candidate in 2019, as against the interest of President Buhari.

“So I seize this opportunity to call for the resignation of the Minister for Foreign Affairs.

“He has no business continuing to be the face of the nation when he has no interest of President Buhari; he has no business to associate himself with the leadership of APC when it is clear that he is working counter purposes to the interest of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“So, I think he ought to have done the honourable thing now that his antics have been exposed and simply resign from that office.”

He alleged that the Minister and the SSA to the president were sponsoring groups such as the ‘Integrity Group’ and that when the group was exposed, they went underground.

According to him, “They have now taken different forms of names: ‘Concerned APC members’, ‘Concerned APC Stakeholders’, ‘Concerned Women of APC’ and other concerned, concerned.

“You are aware that both the Minister of Foreign Affairs as well as SSA to the president (on Judicial Reform, Mrs. Julliet Ibekaku) had employed A. C. Ude, who is on suspension, and Ngozika Queen Nwankwo, who is also on suspension to continue to run what they think is a parallel structure even when they are working with the government of President Buhari,” he said
