Food Prices Fall, Reduce- NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS has said prices of food items in the country has decreased by 7.22 percent.

This was revealed by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS in its latest report.

The NBS in its selected Food Price Watch data for April 2017, released Tuesday in Abuja, said one kilogram (1kg) was sold for N250.30 in April from N418.71 in March.

The Bureau said between April 2016 and 2017, the average cost of 1 kg of rice (imported high quality sold ) increased by 29.98 percent in the month under review.

A dozen of Agric eggs medium size, according to the NBS, decreased by 1.71 percent to N515,66 in April 2017 from N577.69 IN March 2017

The average cost of 1kg of tomato increased by 15.32 percent in April 2017 as against April 2016, adding that it recorded a decline by 6.36 percent to N285.72 IN April from N268.64 in March 2017
