Mazi Chima Amadi, the founder of The Mazi Organization (TMO) has expressed strong disapproval of the escalating insecurity in Imo State, particularly the surge in kidnappings and violent attacks along the Owerri-Aba Road, with the Ngor Okpala axis being a hotspot of recent criminal activities.
In a statement signed by its spokesman, Cajetan Duke, the group highlighted the dire consequences of this security lapse on the lives and economic well-being of residents and road users.
“This disturbing trend is a grave threat to the safety and well-being of citizens and endangers the socio-economic development of our communities,” the statement read.
The organization referenced a recent harrowing incident captured in a viral video, which reportedly occurred on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
According to the statement, armed assailants attacked a Toyota Hilux vehicle, killing the driver and abducting over 26 passengers from other vehicles into the bush. It stated that this brazen act of violence has further underscored the urgency of addressing the security crisis.
“No part of Imo State should be left ungoverned or allowed to descend into lawlessness. Imo has had enough of this bloodshed. Enough is enough,” the group declared.
They called on Governor Hope Uzodimma to take immediate and decisive measures to secure lives and property across the state.
While commending the efforts of security agencies, TMO urged them to intensify their actions in tracking down the perpetrators of these heinous crimes.
“We demand the immediate and unconditional release of all abducted victims, unhurt, so they may safely reunite with their families,” the statement insisted.
Amadi extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent incidents. “Their pain is our pain. We stand in solidarity with them during this difficult time. May their souls rest in peace, and may their families find strength and comfort,” Dr. Amadi stated.
The Organization also emphasized the need for heightened vigilance among citizens. They encouraged residents to promptly report any suspicious activities to the appropriate security agencies, while also urging traditional rulers, town union leaders, and vigilante groups to collaborate with law enforcement to address the insecurity.
“We must work together as a community to put an end to this menace. Unity and synergy are critical in reclaiming our state from these criminal elements,” the group noted.
Concluding its statement, TMO reaffirmed its commitment to peace, security, and the prosperity of Imo State.
“We pledge our support to all efforts aimed at restoring safety and public confidence in our communities,” the organization said.
