The National Forum of Political Advisers (NAFOPA) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), who died in London at the age of 82 on Sunday.
In a condolence message signed by its Chairman, Chief Perry Opara, who also serves as Political Adviser to Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, NAFOPA described Buhari’s demise as a monumental loss to Nigeria and the African continent.
Chief Opara noted that the former Nigerian leader was a patriot and elder statesman whose contributions to the nation’s development would remain indelible in history.
“On behalf of the entire members of the National Forum of Political Advisers, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late former President, the government and people of Nigeria over this irreparable loss,” the statement read.
He praised Buhari’s decades of service to the country, both as a military Head of State and as a democratically elected President, describing him as “a man of discipline, integrity, and uncommon dedication to national unity.”
Chief Opara further prayed for the repose of Buhari’s soul and for strength to his family and associates as they mourn his passing.
“May Almighty God grant the family the fortitude to bear this great loss and grant the departed eternal rest,” he added.
NAFOPA also called on Nigerians to reflect on Buhari’s legacy of service and unity, urging citizens to sustain the values he stood for in their quest for a better nation.
