The Deputy Chairman of the Planning Committee for the 2025 Ahiajoku Lecture Festival, Sir Stanley Amuchie, has confirmed that final preparations are in place for the Ahiajoku Colloquium, scheduled to hold on September 25, 2025 at the Ahiajoku Convention Centre, Owerri.
In a release, Amuchie described the forthcoming colloquium as a landmark intellectual and cultural gathering designed to set the tone for the main lecture of the festival which holds a day later.
He noted that all arrangements had been concluded to ensure a seamless and impactful event.
“This year’s colloquium is unique,” Amuchie said. “We have brought together some of the brightest Igbo minds in scholarship and enterprise to offer insights into rebuilding our homeland. It is about ideas, strategies, and a collective vision. What will be discussed here will directly shape the lecture on the following day.”
Among the distinguished speakers expected is Chief Leo Stan Ekeh, founder of Zinox Computers, whose entrepreneurial journey has become a model of Igbo resilience and innovation.
Amuchie explained that Ekeh’s participation would inspire young entrepreneurs and demonstrate how indigenous ingenuity can drive economic revival.
Other eminent Igbo scholars and cultural figures will also feature, bringing intellectual depth to the dialogue.
According to Amuchie, the goal is to bridge the gap between theory and practice: “The colloquium will highlight both the historical resilience of Ndigbo and the boundless possibilities that lie in innovation, self-reliance, and secure Igboland,” he said.
He further stressed the cultural dimension of the day, pointing out that arts exhibitions would complement the intellectual sessions.
“Ahiajoku is not only about debate; it is about affirming who we are. Through music, art, and cultural displays, we will tell the enduring story of our people,” he added.
The event is expected to draw attendance from Southeast Governors, Igbo leaders, captains of industry, Igbo intelligentsia, members of the Igbo diaspora, and representatives of town unions, underscoring its broad appeal and significance.
Recall that the 2025 Ahiajoku lecture is scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025, and will be delivered by His Lordship, Most Rev. Professor Godfrey Onah, the Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese. The theme is: “The Future of Igbo Economy Amidst the Challenges of Insecurity: A Call for Paradigm Shift “.
Sir Amuchie concluded with confidence that the 2025 edition would be one of the most memorable in Ahiajoku’s history: “We are certain that the discussions, cultural exhibitions, and networking opportunities at this colloquium will leave a lasting impact. It is a platform to rethink our economic survival and chart a united course for the Igbo nation.”
