…Says Imo People Will Decide Collectively
Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, says the choice of who succeeds him in 2027 will not be by appointment or imposition but through a collective decision of the Imo people.
Speaking at a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre, Owerri, the governor dismissed speculation that he plans to anoint a successor, stressing that only the people will determine who leads after him.
According to him, leadership must reflect service and continuity, not personal ambition.
“My successor will emerge through a collective decision. Imo people will decide who takes over from me, and that process will be inclusive and transparent,” Uzodimma said.
He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining peace and security in the state, revealing that his administration is strengthening the Imo Community Vigilance Services to curb criminal activities and ensure safety for all.
The governor also cited ongoing projects in infrastructure, education, and healthcare as part of efforts to secure Imo’s future beyond his tenure. “By December, our slogan will change from Imo is on the Rise to Imo Has Risen,” he stated confidently.
Uzodimma dismissed rumours that the Federal Government refunded funds spent on road construction, maintaining that his motive was service, not political gain.
He urged APC members to unite and prepare for the future, emphasizing that Imo’s political destiny will continue to be shaped by the collective will of its people.
