The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed February 2026 for its nationwide ward and local government area (LGA) congresses, setting the stage for the party’s national convention in March.
Ward congresses are scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2026, while LGA congresses will hold on February 20, during which three delegates — including one woman — will be elected to represent each council at the national convention.
Appeals arising from the ward congresses will be heard on February 19, with appeals from the LGA congresses slated for February 21, according to the timetable.
The schedule was released on Saturday by the APC national secretary, Ajibola Basiru, via his verified X handle, in line with Articles 11 and 17 of the party’s constitution.
Ahead of the congresses, the party will commence its nationwide membership e-registration from December 1, 2025, to January 30, 2026.
Notices of congresses will be issued to state chapters and the Federal Capital Territory on February 2, while the purchase and submission of forms for ward and LGA positions will run from February 4 to February 9.
Screening committees for ward and LGA positions will be inaugurated on February 10, with the screening of aspirants holding between February 11 and February 13.
At the state level, the purchase of forms for state executive positions will take place from February 23 to February 27, 2026.
State congresses are scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, with appeals from the exercise to be heard between March 9 and March 11.
The party will then proceed to zonal congresses across the six geopolitical zones on March 21, ahead of the APC national convention scheduled to hold from March 25 to March 28, 2026.
