Prince Lemmy Akakem, Okpataozuoha — our dear leader — turns 75 today. I rise to join all men and women of goodwill in celebrating this great man of honor: a harbinger of communal aspirations and an enabler of human potential. I love him as a good son loves a caring father — with deep respect, admiration, and gratitude.
His greatness is not merely skin-deep — it shines through the nobility of his mind, the simplicity of his bearing, his unwavering devotion to community service, his spirit of forgiveness, and his relentless drive to achieve. Ndaa Lemmy is a recurring decimal in the development of young people into solid, capable personalities — in education, commerce, politics and public service. Indeed, the long list of men and women whose lives he has transformed is a living chronicle of his selfless devotion to the upliftment of others.
What sets him apart?
First — he is never envious of the progress and growth of his mentees. Instead, he _encourages_ them — cheering them on as they rise higher than he ever imagined.
Second — he can express righteous anger when deeply offended. But he does not hate. He forgives — wholeheartedly, repeatedly. This gracious spirit has been tested — even abused — by some he once shepherded into politics and public offices. Yet, again and again, he opens his great heart to welcome them back. May his example inspire other leaders to practice forgiveness as a strength, not a weakness.
He is a rare and articulate pathfinder — always seeking the best ways to nurture human potential and steer minds toward the achievement of bold, shared goals. He ranks among the greatest benefactors not only in Owerri Zone, but across Imo State and beyond. Truly, he is a lover of life’s finer things — yet ever mindful of the suffering, to whom he dedicates a generous portion of his resources.
A dapper dresser and gracious host, he embodies the cultural warmth and hospitality of the Owerri people. In public and private discourse, his wit and wisdom shine — his words are always measured, thoughtful, and delivered with impeccable grammar and clarity with pedagogical finesse.
Prince Lemmy Akakem is abundantly blessed. His children and grandchildren are all doing well in their respective fields of endeavors. As he ages beautifully, his blessings continue to increase. He is indeed, a contented man, happy from home. A man under God’s grace, he services this devotion to God through selfless provisions of quality leadership that has not only endured but also inspired generations.
As he celebrates this milestone, I pray for God’s continued grace upon him. May his legacies endure and may they continue to inspire others in believing and providing leadership with human face just as he has done.
Happy 75 years birthday to the people’s leader with tender heart.
