A London-based Triangle International Magazine has named Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as the face of Africa Leadership and Governor of the Year for 2026.
The magazine said the 2026 Face of Africa Leadership Award for Governance Excellence “is a special recognition reserved for a sub-national leader whose vision, character, and achievements have made extraordinary impact within a calendar year.”
The award will be handed over to Uzodimma in London on Thursday, April 2, as part of the 10th anniversary celebration of Triangle International Magazine.
In a letter to the governor informing him of the nomination, the magazine explained that he was chosen because of his “administration’s consistent demonstration of exemplary leadership, strategic foresight, and measurable progress across Imo State.”
In the letter signed by Femi Salako, CEO of Triangle International Magazine, London, it also cited Uzodimma’s “unwavering commitment to restoring critical infrastructure, particularly the construction and rehabilitation of key roads, enhancements in healthcare delivery, and investment in the power sector” as another reason he won the award.
It further cited the governor’s resolute efforts in strengthening security, boosting investors’ confidence, and stimulating economic activities as contributing factors for his nomination.
The magazine praised Governor Hope Uzodimma for his people-oriented policies in youth empowerment, education reform, and job creation, which have continued to “foster inclusion, hope, and upward mobility for thousands of Imo residents.”
According to Triangle International Magazine, Uzodimma’s exceptional ability to navigate fiscal challenges through innovative public-private partnerships, with attendant sustainable development outcomes, has distinguished him as a transformational leader deserving of the Governor of the Year Award.
While congratulating the governor on the award, the magazine said it was looking forward to celebrating his remarkable contribution in London.
Uzodimma, who is the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, had earlier in the year been conferred with the Governor of the Year 2025 Awards by Vanguard Newspapers, Leadership Newspapers, Telegraph Newspapers, and Silverbird TV.
