Chima Amadi has opted to pursue the Owerri Zone Senate seat as the first phase of a broader political strategy that could see him contest the Imo State governorship in November 2027.
In a statement outlining the rationale behind the move, Amadi said the decision was not driven by uncertainty but by “clarity of purpose, political realism, and a deep commitment to building a durable and winning movement.”
According to him, Imo’s electoral timetable creates a unique political landscape that requires strategic planning, unlike states where momentum for elections develops in a single cycle.
He noted that the Senate bid would provide an opportunity to deepen grassroots mobilisation across the state, especially in all local government areas, ensuring his political structure reaches every ward before the governorship contest.
Amadi also said contesting for the Senate would offer immediate and visible leadership to supporters and allied candidates, while helping to strengthen party cohesion ahead of larger political battles.
He further argued that occupying a federal legislative position would establish a strong institutional and political foothold capable of enhancing advocacy for Imo people and increasing influence on national policy matters.
The Senate platform, he added, would also help in building a broad coalition of stakeholders, aligning political interests early and consolidating support before the governorship race.
