Describes it as a party with positive ideology; urges Imolites to join

As the 2027 general elections draw closer, the Acting Chairperson of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Imo State, Prudence Uchebuakor, has said that the newly-registered political party would not only make a headway, but also record a landslide victory in the state.

The Chairperson, who stated this while speaking to newsmen in her office, 38 Okigwe Road, opposite Open University, Owerri recently, said that the party had all it takes to win at all levels, saying that those who have the intention to run in elections should come and pick forms.

Describing it as a unique and ideology-driven political party, the easy-going Chairperson averred, “Our party has a well-spelt-out ideology on good governance, improving the economy of the nation and security of the people. It’s built on equity and Pan-African philosophy, aiming at the transition of Nigeria from a consumption-based to a production-driven economy”.

The 2023 deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), noted that DLA had no godfathers, stating that they focus on human development and building platforms that could touch lives positively. She, however, called on those who hunger for good governance, rule of law and equity to join the party, assuring that they will not be disappointed, as they have a formidable structure in the state.

“As one of the leading opposition political parties, we will give the ruling party a straight fight in 2027. We are actually here to win elections. We are working with people who are really yearning for change. I’m very much sure that the masses will support us, because people are looking for good governance. We need people who really need a change in the country. Let me also use this opportunity to tell Imo people that we are going to wrestle power from the APC in the state. We must produce the next governor of the state. So, people should join our team. We’re here to make a difference”, she noted.

Continuing, the former House of Assembly candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA), stated, “DLA is open to everybody whose objective and mindset is to transform the society from what it is today to what it ought to be”.

On how to offer good governance, the party Chairperson said that they indulge in leadership training to ensure that those they elect work towards their goals in order to measure up to global standards.

For clarity purposes, the DLA is among the two political parties registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in February 2026 out of the 171 applications.
