The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its planned statewide post-primary tour, saying a new date for the exercise will be announced in due course.
The decision was announced after a meeting of the party’s State Executive Committee (SEC) held at the APC Secretariat along Okigwe Road, Owerri.
According to a statement, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Dr. Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, said the committee resolved to suspend the tour, which was scheduled to commence on Tuesday, July 14. “The Party’s SEC has taken a decision to put the tour on hold and a new date will be communicated in due course,” part of the statement read.
The meeting, presided over by the Deputy State Chairman of the party, Architect Allen Enwerem, also reviewed the recently concluded party primaries following the successful upload of the names of the APC’s candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal.
During the meeting, the SEC passed a vote of confidence on Governor Hope Uzodimma, commending his leadership and support for the party throughout the primary election process.
The committee also reaffirmed its loyalty to the governor and endorsed the leadership of the APC State Chairman, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, and the State Working Committee for what members described as transparent and harmonious management of the party’s affairs.
