Imo Fixes Dates for Common Entrance, BECE, Junior WAEC

The Imo State Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has announced the timetable for the 2026 Common Entrance Examination, First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), Junior WAEC and Junior NABTEB examinations across the state.

According to a public announcement signed by the Commissioner for Primary and Secondary Education, Prof. Bernard-Thompson O. Ikegwuoha, parents and guardians have been urged to support candidates during the examination period, while prospective candidates seeking further clarification were advised to visit their respective schools or the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

The ministry disclosed that the Common Entrance Examination and the First School Leaving Certificate Examination will take place on Friday, July 17, 2026. The Common Entrance Examination is scheduled to commence at 9:30 a.m., while the FSLC examination will begin at 12 noon, with each examination lasting two hours.

It also announced that the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), Junior WAEC and the Business Technical Certificate Examination (Junior NABTEB) will be conducted from Tuesday, July 21 to Saturday, July 25, 2026.

According to the timetable, the morning session for the examinations will hold daily from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., while the afternoon session will run from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. throughout the examination period.

The ministry further explained that the results of the examinations would be published and used for admissions into JSS 1 and SSS 1 for the 2026/2027 academic session in both public and private schools across Imo State.

Candidates were advised to arrive at their examination centres early with all the necessary materials, as the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to advancing education in the state.
