Peace and reconciliation efforts have taken a firm root in the Ikeduru chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following a meeting of party leaders and stakeholders led by business mogul, Dr. Uzoma Obiyo and Prince Charles Amadi, popularly known as Chavon, who publicly reconciled their differences ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting attracted a mammoth crowd of APC chieftains and thousands of party members, with discussions centred on harmonising interests within the party, strengthening its grassroots structures and mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Those in attendance included 10 leaders from each ward in Ikeduru, ward executives, former councillors, former APC local government chairmen and other stakeholders. Also present were the APC Imo State Organising Secretary, Okey Ezuruike, and the party’s candidate for the Ikeduru State Constituency seat in the Imo State House of Assembly, Chantel Adanna Chinyere.

Speaking at the gathering, Obiyo said the initiative was designed to deepen grassroots mobilisation and ensure that the APC secured electoral support organically across Ikeduru. He stressed the importance of taking the party’s message directly to the wards and bringing members together behind a common political objective.

“The event here is to ensure grassroots mobilisation and ensure that APC wins organically. The aim is to mobilise grassroots support for the governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and ensure victory for all APC candidates. The message is to sink down in the wards,” Obiyo said.

He reaffirmed his commitment to restoring peace and harmony within the Ikeduru APC, urging party leaders and members to put their differences aside and work collectively towards the 2027 elections. According to him, sustained engagement with grassroots members and cooperation among stakeholders would be critical to securing support for all APC candidates.

Amadi, in his remarks, described Obiyo as his brother and affirmed his support for efforts to restore unity within the party. He cautioned members against making statements capable of creating fresh divisions and urged them to stop passing misleading or inflammatory remarks about Obiyo to him. The high point of the gathering was the public reconciliation between the two leaders, marked by a warm embrace and the holding of hands, which drew thunderous applause from thousands of party members.

Several party leaders and stakeholders who witnessed the reconciliation applauded the initiative, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening the APC in Ikeduru. The Imo State APC Organising Secretary, Okey Ezuruike, was among those who commended the move, while other speakers praised the commitment of Obiyo and Amadi to peace and cooperation. They expressed confidence that the renewed understanding among party leaders would help resolve internal disagreements and strengthen the party’s structures across the local government area.

The stakeholders pledged to work together to ensure that the APC remained united and mobilised its members to support the party’s candidates in the 2027 general elections. They called on party faithful across the wards to sustain the spirit of reconciliation, avoid divisive conduct and intensify grassroots engagement as preparations for the elections gather momentum.

The reconciliation between Obiyo and Amadi, alongside the wider harmonisation effort, marks an attempt by key APC figures to close ranks and build a common front in Ikeduru. With party leaders pledging cooperation and grassroots mobilisation taking centre stage, the gathering ended with a renewed call for unity and collective commitment to the APC’s electoral campaign across Ikeduru and Imo State.
