Hundreds of supporters who believe in the governorship ambition of Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere have taken to the streets of Owerri to demonstrate their support for the number 2 citizen of the State.
Mainly women and youths, they are calling on the number two citizen of the State not to hesistate in aspiring for the governorship in 2019.
This is in line our story that the two major contenders angling to be Governor Rochas Okorochas successor in the Rescue Mission camp, Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu and Prince Eze Madumere have stepped up their ambitions.
This newspaper learnt that majority of the supporters are from Madumere’s Mbaitoli State constituency. They had taken off from the International Conference Centre, ICC, Owerri as they march along major roads and streets of Owerri.
The latest demonstration has indeed raised the tempo of the struggle in the Rescue mission over who gets the Governor’s nod as his successor and also put more pressure on the Governor to name a successor.
Governor Rochas Okorocha at a media parley with journalists in Owerri said he is aware that three persons in his Rescue Mission camp are aspiring to take over from him in 2019 namely Prince Eze Madumere, Uche Nwosu and Chike Okafor. He however added that none of them have informed him of their ambitions.
Lawmaker Backs Madumere’s Guber Bid
In open support for the governorship ambition of the Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, member representing Mbaitoli State constituency, Hon. Ifeanyi Nnataronye said the solidarity march in support of Madumere was unique.
He paid glowing tributes to the number two citizen of the State whom he described as humble, peaceful and loyal with experiences in both private and public sector
Speaking to newsmen at the pro Madumere rally, the lawmaker said Madumere is qualified to fill in the shoes of the Governor.
He called on the people of the State to show absolute support to the Deputy Governor, stating that his contributions to the development of the state are some of the reasons many people are backing him for the guber bid.
