The wave of reactions trailing the endorsement of one of the governorship aspirants in APGA in Imo State has continued to elicit mixed reactions.
An Owerri based local newspaper had reported that majority of governorship aspirants in APGA in Imo State had endorsed Chief Okey Ezeh for the guber ticket of the party.
Ezeh had in a statement by his media aide, Collins Opuruzor said he believes in the power of internal democracy and all processes that will lead to the emergence of a governorship candidate of the party.
But in his reaction, Hon. John Iwuala, the Assistant National Organizing Secretary of the party, South East Zone of the party in a Statement condemned the report by the newspaper house.
Part of the statement reads “We not only condemned the image tarnishing publication but disassociated our responsible and reasonable gubernatorial aspirants from this political blackmail as inconsequential, null and void.
“However, our party APGA is yet to commence the sale of expression of interest forms to any aspirant for any elective position in Nigeria for the oncoming general elections not to talk of Imo state.
“Our party, APGA is too credible enough to have aspirants who will throw in their towel before the contest despite the fact that all our Guber aspirants in Imo state have a mutual love for themselves and as well share things together which is uncommon with rival political parties in Nigeria today. This was only achieved due to the credible leadership of the party in the state led by Barrister Sir Peter Ezeobi which is poised towards credible, transparent, free and fair primaries on a level play ground for all the aspirants in the state, and of course, the direction of the National leadership led by Ozomkpu Dr Victor Ike Oye that has always preached internal democracy within the various hierarchy of our great party, APGA”
“APGA is the only hope of NDI IMO state for a positive change come 2019 and would not take any chances to any undemocratic disposition from any individual or media outfit” he stated
He said APGA is the only hope for the people of Imo State for a positive change come 2019 and would not take any chances to any democratic disposition from any individual or media outfit.
“Furthermore, some media Houses, mostly these local ones in Imo state thrive by fabricating stories in the name of news just to hoodwink the credulous public, as such stories should be repudiated.
“We do hereby draw to your rapt attention to the fact that such magnitude endorsement has no known venue, date and names of aspirants who participated in the purported endorsement. These evidently confirm the fallacious nature of the purported nature of the said endorsement” the statement declared.
This newspaper had reported that most APGA governorship aspirants contacted after the newspaper publication kept mute refusing to openly react to the publication.
