No Plans To Stifle The Press- FG

The Federal Government has denied reports that it intends to stifle the press or make any law towards achieving such purpose. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed responded to reports on the social media that the National Broadcasting Corporation, NBC will regulate the phone in programmes and newspaper review on Tv and radio programmes.

He said there was no such directive from the NBC or from hi soffice.

Mr. Mohammed reiterated that “no government that stifles the press, ever succeeds” and the Federal Government will not make laws or issue directive to gag the media.

He said the position of the government has been and still remains that the industry should regulate itself.
