Indications emerged last night that the All Progressive Congress may begin to conduct Congresses from the ward to the State levels in February 2018.
The Ward, LGA and State Congresses is a prelude to the party’s national convention which will also come up next year.
The Congresses have been described as the battle ground for contending political forces eying various elective offices.
In Imo state, those in the know of this development in the party have begun strategizing to ensure their loyalists vie and win such positions pending official confirmation by the national leadership of the party.
This is coming on the heels that the Governorship primary of the APC in Imo State may be determined by party officers from the ward to the LGA levels in addition to the election of some few delegates.
The APC in Imo State have been in rumbles lately over allegations of oath taking slammed against some local government chairmen of the party.
Last week,17 of the LGA Chairmen passed a vote of confidence on the Governor thus sending clear signal that the remaining 10 LGA chairmen may have joined Senator Araraume’s camp.
No APC state official confirmed this development. Calls put across to the State Chairman for further clarification were unanswered as at press time.
