Some defectors to the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in Imo State may be stranded in realizing their  political ambitions as the party structure seem to have been pocketed by a particular governorship aspirant.

Some of the new decampees are said to be pushing for fresh congresses to elect new officers of the party from the ward, LGA and State levels and also delegates that will take part in electing candidates for various elective positions.

This may have met a brickwall as the party leadership in Awka may not be disposed to such idea at the moment on the ground that it is unwise to do so because party officers from the ward to the state levels have been with the party in truth and in spirit and have remained with  it right from 2015 after losing the governorship election to the APC.

This development seem to have put some of the aspirants particularly the new entrants on the edge. They are said to be uncomfortable with the firm grip and positive disposition of party officers to one of the governorship aspirants who recently doled out cash and vehicles to the 27 local government chapters of the party.

A source in the party said APGA members in Imo State are comfortable with one of their own who is truly APGA and has remained with them during the time of turbulence of the party. There is the general argument within the party that most of the new entrants who are joining the party did so just to realize their ambitions and dump the party thereafter when they succeed in realizing their ambitons.

A top stakeholder in the party who spoke on condition of anonymity said they do not want a repeat of what happened in 2011 where Governor Rochas Okorocha used APGA to win the governorship contest only to dump it for the All Progressive Congress, APC and described APGA as a cultural organization thereafter.

APGA in Imo State has witnessed a huge leap in the State as it parades the highest number of governorship aspirants among all the political parties.
