Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has revealed what transpired at a closed door meeting between Igbo leaders and Acting President, Yemi Osibanjo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja yesterday.
The meeting is in line with ongoing consultations initiated by the Presidency to douse growing tension in the country triggered by the ultimatum issued by Coalition of Northern Youths to Igbos to leave Northern Nigeria latest October 1, 2017.
Okorocha who featured on Channels Television Programme, Politics Today, said the South East presented some grievances before the Acting President.
According to him, he promised to address them saying that the focal point was all about the unity of the country.He said Igbo leaders also expressed dissatisfaction with the lopsided appointments, infrastructure deficit and the Second Niger Bridge.
The Imo State Governor said “ no one supports secession of any form. We support a Nigeria that is indivisible and indissoluble”
He admitted that indeed the South East needs attention in terms of lopsided appointments made by the present government, stressing that Osibanjo “ did a good analysis of political appointments so far and there is need to look at the side of the country and give them a sense of belonging”
On the agitation for Biafra and October 1 eviction order by Arewa Youths, the Imo State Governor said separatist groups were out for their selfish gains and not for the good of the overall populace
