It is absurd that when “clean guys” delve into politics, political merchants and layabouts easily take up the responsibility to tarnish their hard earned image with ease.
This is one of the reasons why in the past the political arena in Imo State has been bereft of men and women of solid character who have the wherewithal to change the well being of the citizenry for good.
Barr Obinna Mbata, the Imo State Commissioner of Finance is one of the new emerging political leaders in Imo State who was called upon by the present government to avail his huge dose of experience he acquired both in the legal practice and banking sector for the benefit of the State.
This is why he has been reappointed Commissioner of Finance in Imo State for a record three times by Governor Rochas Okorocha, a rare feat which underscores his huge input in the success story of the Rescue Mission government.
This further gives credence to his undiluted loyalty to the Rescue Mission government in addition to his sagacity and competence in the management of the lean finances of the State at a time Nigeria is undergoing economic depression.
This is why it is quite strange that some mischievous elements in a bid to malign the learned legal practitioner and financial guru whose immense contribution to the overall development of the State decided to drag Hon.Mbata’s name to the mud by falsely accusing him of being among some top government officials plotting the impeachment of Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere.
In his official reaction to the baseless allegations,Mbata said they are wild and overactive imagination of the author.
He said it is baseless and without foundation, disassociating himself from such plot and whatever mischievous intendments that are behind it.
“I am not aware of nor involved in any such plot, in any way or manner whatsoever and reserve the right to seek legal redress against such a malicious publication that seeks to impugn my character” he said
One is not suprised why the originators chose such an auspicious time to level such non existent allegations against the Commissioner which came barely few days after a recent visit of Owerri municipal chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC visited Governor Rochas Okorocha at Government House, Owerri .
At the meeting, Governor Okorocha announced that he will support his son in law and Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu if he declares to run for the Imo governorship contest in 2019.
Certainly those who peddled this falsehood against Mbata are not far from the circus of comedians and mischief makers who fear losing out in the political schemings to get Governor Rochas Okorocha’s endorsement for the 2019 Imo governorship Race.
Those who manufactured these bundle of lies against Mbata and others are like a snake that has been beheaded and desperately looking for whom to attack with its tail.
These purveyors of falsehood in their blind desperation to cast mud on anyone they consider an enemy in their infantile reasoning failed to note that the Commissioner led the APC Owerri Municipal chapter to Governor Okorocha on a solidarity visit, which is within their right, and at that event the Governor, ostensibly acknowledging the credibility of APC chieftains present such as Hon.Mbata, deemed it appropriate to speak on the credibility of the Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu as a person, and his capacity to handle the responsibilities of governance if he aspires to the governorship of the state.
Did the Commissioner and other key leaders of the APC Owerri municipal chapter compel or force the Governor to endorse Uche Nwosu for Imo governorship when they visited? So, why throw stones on Hon. Mbata with frivolous allegations seeking to pitch him against the Deputy Governor when he doesn’t have any political wrangling with H.E Prince Eze Madumere, who is his boss?
Those casting aspersions on Hon. Mbata “mobilizing billions” to impeach the Deputy Governor have either lost good sense of reasoning or deliberately stoking fire just to malign the credibility of a man of impeccable character whose humane and gentle mien is unparalleled.
