Following the emergence of Imo state born Miracle Igbokwe as the winner of the Big Brother Naija recently, the commissioner for Tourism, Hon. Cyril Okafor has said that, “Imo State will soon begin to attract more tourists to the state as Entertainers and Hospitality Industries will sort for his attention inviting him to their events and other activities”.
This according to the commissioner ” must certainly cause the influx of tourists from far and near into the state and as expected boost the socio-economic ratio of the state”.
He made this statement last Thursday May 3,2018 at the Government House Owerri, when Igbokwe, alongside some of his housemates after the conclusion of the Reality Show were hosted by the Government of Imo state led by Governor Rochas Okorocha.
Presenting a cash reward to the BB Naija winner, Governor Okorocha, described him “as a good ambassador of Imo -State, who used the opportunity at the show to showcase to the whole world, the importance of free and qualitative education as being practiced in the state.
“Miracle is our son Who went to South Africa for the Big Brother Naija show. He spoke well of his state and was good ambassador of his state. For this we thought, it is proper that we receive him”.
Furthermore, the governor explained that, “usually, our state does not engage in receiving People for outings they have made, unless we consider such an outing as one that has position bearing to the image of the state.
“One thing that was outstanding is that these two great participants, Miracle and Nina spoke highly of Imo State. They stood tall and proud of their State, in South Africa.
“This is the reason for the honour and to say welcome back home”.
