Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi has said he is keen on forgoing his role in the team if that could win games for the Eagles.
Obi was criticized for his not too impressive display in the 2-0 loss to Croatia in the ongoing World Cup in Russia.
Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr had been called on to play Obi Mikel in a defensive role in subsequent games .
The Former Chelsea mid- fielder said he is not averse to such idea.
“I am the captain of this team. If I have to sacrifice for this team to progress, I will.
“If I have to sacrifice a position, go play wherever, I will do that
for this team to win games,” he said.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s match against Iceland, he added: “We are very hopeful and confident because everything is still in our own hands.
