- The Chairmen have vowed to take over the headquarters of the 27 Local governments in Imo State on Nov 30

Sacked local government Chairmen, and Councilors elected during the reign of former Governor Rochas Okorocha, have given details of how they were assured of returning to their various offices by Governor Hope Uzodinma.
The former Chairmen had vowed to take over the 27 local government headquarters in the State on November 30 in compliance with an order of the Court of Appeal.
Reacting to a statement by the State Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, the former Council bosses in a statement revealed that Governor Uzodinma had assured them on assumption of office that he will ensure they return to various local government headquarters.
In a statement signed Hon Chizobam O. Chizobam, Hon Evang Chinwe Obinna, and Hon Jude Mbachu, they claimed that “on assumption of office, the Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, on the 17th day of January, 2020 at the Sam Mbakwe Exco Chambers, Government House told the Council Chairmen that caretaker committee is not known to law and as such being a product of the Judiciary will not attempt to impugn on the sanctity of the legal institution”
“He therefore asked the Executive Chairmen to allow him time to sort out the so many issues bordering on transition, a request we gladly obliged him but unfortunately His Excellency is yet to keep to his words” the ex Chairmen stated
The State Attorney General, C.O.C Akaolisa had warned the sacked Chairmen that “those who attempt to take the laws into their hands, or seek to breach the peace will only be doing so at their own risk”
“We therefore advise the Rochas Okorocha Chairmen to await the outcome of their matters at the Imo State High Court, the Court of Appeal and the matter at the Supreme Court” Akaolisa said.
