• SECG has remained relentless in the pursuit for the actualization of Igbo Presidency in 2023

The South East Coalition for Good Governance, SECG, has hailed Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, for his “bold resolve to look at the faces of PDP chieftains and demand for zoning of the presidency to the South East zone”

Gov Umahi had announced his plans to dump the PDP for the All Progressive Congress, APC, because the ruling party plans to zone its presidential ticket to the South East zone.

Reacting to the development, SECG in a statement by Fidelis Ukandu , President General of the Coalition, said Governor Umahi has exposed the PDP’s insincerity towards the South East “despite the overwhelming support of the zone to the PDP since the advent of democracy in the country in 1999″.

“The South East has been the backbone of the PDP for a long time and it is strange that the party is not considering the region for its presidential ticket in 2023 despite the massive support the Igbo nation has given to the party.

“Governor Umahi in his narration of what transpired between him and PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus and other national officers of the party, said the party leaders were not forthcoming when he assured that he will remain in the PDP if the zone allots its presidential ticket to the South East

“The reluctance of PDP leaders to reveal to the Ebonyi state governor on which zone will the presidency will be zoned to in 2023, is a reflection of the fact that the PDP may be gambling with the collective resolve of the Igbo to produce the next president of the country.

“This is an exposure and we call on all well meaning Igbo to continue to remain committed to the genuine cause of Igbo to produce the next president of the country. We salute Governor Umahi for his bravery and uncommon commitment to the resolve of Igbo nation to produce the next president of the country.
