Protus Nathan Uzoma, a professor and governorship aspirant of the Labour Party in Imo State, has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of hijacking democracy in Nigeria
Protus, a fiery critic, told newsmen in Owerri, that the just concluded presidential and National Assembly election in the country does not reflect the wish of Nigerians.
He stated that the Labour Party presidential candidate, LP, Peter Obi, was the actual winner of the polls.
He said he is mourning the outcome of the election, on the basis that he is confident that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, did not win the polls.
“One political party hijacked the election. I m mourning how the mandate of the people was truncated.
“Peter Obi and the Labour party won the election and it was upturned. We should stop rigging in Nigeria and it will be not be good that Tinubu’s name would be synonymous with rigging elections in Nigeria” he stated.
He insisted that the polls were fraudulent on the basis that results of the polls were mutilated.
He sued for calm among the Nigerian youths, commending them for showing maturity in the face of provocations and daylight election robbery.
“I know majority of Nigerians are not happy over the outcome of the election because it is not their wish. But I commend Nigerians for showing maturity. But we must seek the truth” he said.
He expressed disappointment over the conduct of the presidential and National Assembly election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, describing it as a shambolic election.
He said the Commission is gradually earning a toga of rigging elections in Nigeria, which does not augur well for the growth of democracy in Nigeria and may erode the confidence of the people on the electoral body.
The guber hopeful said he has hope in the Nigerian Judiciary to restore the mandate of the people at the polls freely given to Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
“I hope the judiciary would restore Obi’s mandate. I call on the youths not to take laws into their hands, but at the same time, we must seek the truth, because Nigerians are not happy” he stated
