Sen Hope Uzodimma is the governor of Imo state. He became the governor because God willed it. Before then, he has always been atop the leadership ladder providing quality services to the people. A two time Senator with verifiable and appreciable records of effective and purposeful representations. He certainly came prepared to be the governor. Uzodimma has always been an articulate and meticulous manager of men and resources with pedagogical touches to issues.This piece is not a biographical note on the great son of the state. It is just a peep into the oriel of his stewardship as the governor of the state in the last three and more years.
Gov Hope Uzodimma no doubt, has distinguished himself in all positive comparative performance indexes in the state and beyond. He became the governor in what many termed surprising circumstances. However, the circumstances were real and legal and act of God. The governor against all odds, set his focus on the ball. He hit the ground running on the first day. He came highly prepared like I said, and hence was not swayed by the opponents’ propaganda, divisiveness, threats, blackmails and political landmines planted on his way. His first aim to be the governor was around 2003. So, Gov Hope Uzodimma did not just wake to announce his own arrival.
Under his watch as the governor of the state, the people witnessed an unprecedented infrastructural (renewal) revolutions.The governor did not embark on unnecessary populist projects because according to him, “governance is not about cheap popularity contest” but ability to do core, critical and ever lasting projects which will add values to the lives of the people. His volumes and networks of roads and other critical facilities remain the hallmarks of his genuine vision and mission to change the poor and sad narratives in the state. He has lifted the morales of the civil servants, creating for them, conducive environments to put in their best. He restored the dignity of the traditional rulers and lifted them to noble pedestal to be happy, proud and able to answer their names and hence, contribute their best to the government policies and programs. Government institutions are at their best today because the governor did not play lip service to needs. Gov Hope Uzodimma rose to the security challenges in the state by doing everything within the law to restore peace in every nook and cranny in the state.
Most worthy of note is his love, care and respect for every citizen of the state. In his speech and actions, he always maintains decorum in his relationship with everyone in the state irrespective of economic or social status.
Indeed, he has never exhibited the grab mentality and hectoring spirit the people witnessed in the past. He has recovered the people’s patrimony, safeguarded and warehoused same, using them to work for the common good of every Imo person in strict compliance with his administration’s philosophy of shared Prosperity and 3R mantra.
That’s no doubt that Gov Hope Uzodimma has clearly out performed his doubters and proved the cynics wrong. It is therefore, good and just that the Imo people across the cultural, political and social divides are in one agreement that indeed, going by his score cards, His Excellency, Sen Hope Uzodimma deserves to be returned for the second time as the governor of Imo state in order to consolidate the good and great works he is doing in Imo state for the good of everyone.
I join millions of Imo people of goodwill to support and endorse him for the second term as governor.
