The immediate past Provost of Abia State College of Education, Technical, Arochukwu, Dr Philips Nto has charged contractors executing jobs in the institution to maintain the standard specifications as approved by Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Tetfund) .

He said the projects he attracted before he left as Provost, including fencing of the entire institution, building of a befitting gate and general landscaping of the entire Tetfund buildings, must follow the laid down procedures he had established along with Tetfund’s guidelines.

Dr Nto who spoke when the contractors paid him a farewell visit, warned that he will not hesitate to report them to TETFUND should any of them deviate from the standard specifications.

He noted that for the seven years that he was the Provost, Tetfund constantly approved projects for ASCETA because he adhered to their standards.

Dr Nto who is a former Commissioner for Finance in the state said they should not take advantage of his exit from the school to lower standards.

” I am appealing to you to adhere to the usual standard so that Tetfund will continue to approve projects for ASCETA”, he said.

He said he was passionate about the development of ASCETA because of its potential to revolutionalize technical and vocational education in the state.

The former Provost expressed satisfaction that he raised the infrastructural and academic base of the institution such that it can be upgraded into a University.

He called on the contractors to also work harmoniously with his successor,Mr Ikechukwu Okoreuga for the benefit of the institution.

Earlier, the contractors explained that they were in his house to express appreciation to the former Provost for the latest projects he attracted to the college .

The Chief Executive of BUILD SURGE HOMES LIMITED, Chief Chima Ogbonna, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, said it was rare to have a public officer who is still interested in his legacies after he would have left the establishment.

He said although the former Provost was always hard on them in achieving standard, they ultimately benefited because they didn’t run foul of extant rules.

He said they were happy that Dr Philips Nto attracted the latest set of projects and still recommended them to execute the projects.

Chief Chima Ogbonna assured Dr Nto that they will keep to standard and work closely with the new Provost as they did with him.
