The Special Adviser to Imo State Governor on Imo Orientation Agency, Chief Dr Fidel Onyeneke has called for absolute commitment by the Stakeholders in the Education sector to ensure enhanced standard upbringing of children and youths.
Chief Onyeneke made the call In Owerri when speaking at the Award of Honours event for students and pupils of Private schools in Imo State organized by the National Association of Proprietors of private Schools and Alphabet Nigeria Publishers.
He said that bequeathing the young persons with quality education would minimize some societal problems which had bedeviled the Nigerian society.
Chief Onyeneke stressed the need to instill appropriate discipline in children and youths with a view to making them imbibe good morals.
The Special Adviser explained that the training of the youths was a joint responsibility of both the Teachers and the parents,adding that the time to build good citizens was at the level of the Students
.Chief Onyeneke urged the youths to shun all vices that would lead them to destruction.
He regretted the prevalence of drug abuse,Cultism prostitution and other dangerous acts which posed great danger to the development of the young persons,even as he called for a change of attitude ,in the interest of peace and growth.
Chief Onyeneke commended the Proprietors of the private schools for organizing an Essay Competion and Awarding Schorlaships to the deserving winners,adding that the effort would ginger the Students to attach more seriousness to their academic pursuits.
A total of 98 private schools and 900 pupils and students were honored and offered Schorlaships at the ceremony.
