A 42 bed hospital in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, has been named after late maverick politician, Senator Arthur Nzeribe.

Speaking at the commissioning of the hospital Friday, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, said the hospital is in line with his administration’s commitment to enhance healthcare accessibility in the State

He said hospital is also a vital addition to reduce mortality rate caused by inadequate health care facilities.

Governor Uzodimma disclosed that the hospital was built through the 13 percent derivation accruable to Imo State for the oil producing communities.

He lamented the plight of oil producing communities, which he attributed to the old leadership vacuum that was unable to translate to the natural endowment of the area into wealth to make people happy.

While naming the hospital in honour of late Senator Nzeribe, the Governor described the late sage as a great leader, a great politician and philanthropist of note who opened the path for others to follow.

Governor Uzodimma also commissioned a 12 meter asphalted bridge connecting six communities in Oguta and establishing a link to Anambra State.
