The renowned spiritual director of the Adoration Ministry in Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has issued a stern warning to politicians regarding his upcoming bazaar event.
In a video recorded during one of his church programs, Fr. Mbaka urged politicians not to attend his bazaar if they were unwilling to make generous donations.
This statement appears to be a veiled reference to a past incident involving the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, whom Mbaka had criticized as a ‘stingy man’ at last year’s bazaar.
This comment had sparked controversy and received condemnation, particularly from the Catholic Church authorities. Mbaka later apologized to Obi under the directive of the Catholic Bishop of Enugu diocese, Most Rev Callistus Onaga.
However, Fr. Mbaka’s recent remarks indicate that the apology may not have fully resolved the issue. He emphasized the importance of the bazaar event, describing it as an occasion to show appreciation to God with significant donations.
Fr. Mbaka also made it clear that those who attended the bazaar were expected to break cola and contribute generously to the event. He cautioned against attending with bad intentions, causing trouble, or refusing to participate in the giving spirit of the event.
He further warned that anyone who disrupts the event would face consequences and be “forced to beg for food with empty plates in the street.” He stressed the significance of the bazaar and called on banks with relationships with his ministry to contribute to the event as a sign of their cooperation.
