As anticipation builds for the unveiling of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s new cabinet, insiders reveal that two long-standing confidants of the governor are now prime candidates for the key positions of Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI).

Having fostered a strong relationship with the governor spanning over two decades, these confidants are said to be integral to Uzodimma’s inner circle, with one of them playing a significant and strategic role since the inception of the administration in 2020.

Sources within the administration told this newspaper that these appointments are imminent.

Alongside these appointments, the Governor is expected to unveil a fresh lineup of Special Advisers, Special Assistants and Commissioners in the coming days.

The source said “The selection of the Secretary to the State Government underscores the governor’s emphasis on trust and loyalty, with the chosen individual expected to navigate the complexities of governance with a deep understanding of the governor’s vision and priorities”

“The appointment of a new Chief of Staff is on the horizon too, with subsequent appointments set to follow promptly”

Governor Uzodimma’s decision to relieve all commissioners, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants of their duties on January 15 signaled a significant shake-up in his administration.

The governor’s had directed Charles Orie, Chairman of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), to reclaim all government property from former appointees.

With expectations high for a revamped cabinet, Governor Uzodimma faces the crucial task of assembling a team capable of steering Imo State through its next phase of development and governance.
