Residents of Imo State have been admonished to show high level of patriotism,and shun all acts that will threaten the peaceful celebration of Easter festivities in different parts of the State.


Former Special Adviser to the Governor on Imo Orientation Agency,Chief Dr Fidel Onyeneke made the appeal in Owerri on Monday while reacting to the preparations for Easter period.


Chief Onyeneke said that people needed to be passionate in welcoming visitors and their returning relatives with open mind,while showing them love and hospitality.


He said that the Easter period called for sober reflections and making of sacrifices on how to solve the problems which bedeviled the Nigerian society.


Onyeneke cautioned against exploitation of people through hike in prices of essential commodities,and carrying out of other nefarious acts.


The Media Relations Consultant stressed that people should be their brothers keepers at this period,even as they extend care to the needy.


Chief Onyeneke frowned at the situation where some rural dwellers hoarded some food items as a deliberate effort to make in unaffordable to the masses.


The former Special Adviser urged Security operatives to enhance the protection of lives and property,stressing that the residential areas in the cities should be adequately guarded,as most people moved to the rural Communities for the Celebrations.


Chief Onyeneke also appealed to the Youths not to engage in social vices capable of causing disorder in the Society.


He commended the efforts of the Imo State Government to rid the State of criminal elements,and appealed to the masses to reciprocate the gesture by living up to their social responsibilities in protecting their immediate environment..


Chief Onyeneke reiterated that inspite of the current economic hardship,Nigerians should resist the temptation of being dragged into actions that would ruin their existence.
