DSTV Downtime Sparks Outrage, Subscribers Demand Three Days Compensation

by admin

Subscribers of DSTV and GOTV are urging Multi Choice to extend their subscription by three days as compensation for the impending three-day downtime.

The call comes after Multi Choice announced that its services would be unavailable from Sunday to Tuesday due to the relocation of its office location, necessitated by the ongoing Lagos-Calabar coastal road construction.

In a notice shared on its official social media handle, DSTV explained that the relocation would take place between May 5 and May 7, 2024, and assured customers that disruption would be minimized.

However, some subscribers are unhappy with the announcement, citing the recent increase in package prices and the lack of compensation for the downtime.

“DSTV should compensate its customers for the three days it would witness downtime,” said Mr. John Kalu, an Owerri-based DSTV subscriber.

“Customers should not bear the brunt of Multi Choice’s relocation.

“All its subscribers across all its packages on DSTV and GOTV should be given three days extra on their subscription after expiration.”

Another subscriber, Mr. Reagan Onochie said Multi Choice should pacify its customers for the downtime.

“We cannot pay so much and they take three days off on the guise of a downtime.” he said.

Ms. Esther Nwanmma, a GOTV subscriber, said she would stop her subscription at the end of the month, citing the exorbitant charges by Multi Choice amidst the country’s economic hardship.

“This is unacceptable. They charge so much for subscription and they are now taking some days off.I will go for Free to Air Satellite at the end of the month,” she said.

Another subscriber who gave his name as Stanley, accused Multi Choice of exploiting Nigerians’ reliance on its services.

“They can’t charge high fees and then take away three days of service without compensation. I demand for free extra days across all its packages to make up for the downtime” he said
