The President of the Owerri Peoples Front (OPF), Ebere Chukwuemeka, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of President General, Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief (Dr) Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, stating that his death represents a significant loss, not just for Nigeria but for the entire West African region.
Chukwuemeka made the remarks when speaking to newsmen at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on his return to the country from Abidjan, Cote D Ivoire.
He emphasized that Iwuanyanwu’s legacy and impact on the economic and political landscape of West Africa are irreplaceable.
According to him, Iwuanyanwu was not only a prominent figure in Nigeria but also a respected leader across West Africa, admired for his extensive contributions to economic development and human empowerment.
“Chief Iwuanyanwu’s influence extended far beyond Nigeria’s borders
“His life’s work has inspired leaders across West Africa, and his commitment to fostering regional unity will be remembered for generations.”he said.
He highlighted that Iwuanyanwu was a visionary leader, whose contributions laid the foundation for many regional advancements, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and economic growth.
Ebere said “As a businessman, philanthropist, and statesman, Iwuanyanwu’s projects created job opportunities, improved living standards, and strengthened ties between Nigeria and its neighbours.
“His investments weren’t only for personal gain but for the good of all. West Africa has lost a true visionary.”he said
Reflecting on Iwuanyanwu’s achievements, Chukwuemeka said that his dedication to uplifting the Igbo people was unmatched.
“Chief Iwuanyanwu’s contributions to education, health, and economic empowerment transformed countless lives.
“His absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who benefitted from his vision and generosity,” he added.
Chukwuemeka spoke on Iwuanyanwu’s political influence, recalling his efforts to strengthen democracy and advocate for good governance in Nigeria and beyond.
He noted that Iwuanyanwu’s strong principles made him a formidable leader who always fought for justice, accountability, and transparency.
“Chief Iwuanyanwu wasn’t just a businessman; he was a statesman who used his voice to champion fairness and equity for all Africans,” Chukwuemeka emphasized.
He urged current and future leaders in West Africa to draw inspiration from Iwuanyanwu’s values and commitment.
“Chief Iwuanyanwu’s life is a blueprint for what is possible when one is driven by passion for the people,” he stated.
The former Owerri Municipal Council Chairman urged leaders to prioritize the welfare of their people, as Iwuanyanwu did, in their quest for economic growth and development.
