The most recent pronouncement of the governor of Imo state to build Nigeria union of journalists village for journalists in the state is applaudable and exciting, especially for members of the union who are immediate beneficiaries of the gesture.
Beyond the governor’s good intentioned programme for the members of the fourth estate of the realm, the state chairman of the union, deserves no LESS commendation too, under whose leadership,great tributaries or laurels are won .
Without mincing words, it throws up light on the leadership qualities of the worthy son of Amaigbo – comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma; the man on the saddle, steering the ship of state of Nigeria Union of journalists in the state Council.
While many commend the governor for his good gesture to the members of the fourth estate of the realm in the state, quite imperative and deserving though, it is also instructive to commend the leadership of the union, who through persistent camaraderie between the leadership and the state governor, nurtured through mutual understanding and cooperation, the feat is achieved.
In the holy Book of Christians- the Bible, it is written that Pontius Pilate was the king when Jesus, the Christ was crucified; though had no hands in the act. Yet, it is imputed to him that it was during his reign that the incident took place. Thus, it remains an intractable fact that events that take place during a leader’s time, whether positive or negative, the leader cannot be distanced from the glory or the ignominy.
Consequently, this is another milestone achievement of the Imo state chapter of the union under the leadership of comrade Nwanguma. Late last year, the same Imo state Council under his able leadership, successfully hosted the triennial Delegates conference of the union. At the end of the conference, a successful election of the National leaders were conducted in the state without rancour and acrimony. Respected leaders emerged in the end.
Undoubtedly, the recent magnanimity of the governor if implemented as proposed, in no small measure, speak volumes, and unveils the galvanizing leadership prowess of comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma at the national level, and in the state level, as a leader per excellence.
A-go-getter, who within a short period of being at the helm of affairs of the union, achieved not only a landmark, but moved a step higher by letting the voice of the Union heard at the national taxonomy; being the first time since the formation of Imo state Council to host such triennial Delegates conference in the state. Thumbs up for you; Amaigbo community, nay, Nwangele local government Area of Imo state, is proud of your excelling endeavours.
