State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Imo State, Cajetan Duke, has officially resigned.
Also, the lawmaker who represented Ngor-Okpala State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, on the platform of the APC, Okenze Blyden Amajuruonwu, also formally announced his resignation from partisan politics.
Their resignation was made public when the duo addressed members of The Mazi Organization (TMO) on Friday in Owerri.
They explained that their resignation was a result of careful consideration to join and align with The Mazi Organization, established by Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi, with the goal of building an environment conducive to real economic growth and prosperity in Imo State, thereby fostering peace, development, and goodness.
“It is with exceptional humility and a profound sense of responsibility that I wish to inform this distinguished audience and the general public of my decision to resign as the State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Imo State, effective today, Friday, February 14, 2025. This decision was not taken lightly. After careful consideration, I decided to move on to a new challenge that aligns with my values and goals,” Duke stated.
He added, “I am grateful for the opportunity to have served APC Imo State in this capacity and I appreciate the support and trust that the party leadership and members have given me during my tenure. I am proud of the accomplishments we achieved together while they lasted.”
Duke further announced his acceptance of the role of official spokesperson for The Mazi Organization, emphasizing the alignment of the organization’s vision with his passion for economic growth and prosperity.
Amajuruonwu reflected that his decision to quit partisan politics was driven by the desire to partner effectively with organizations like TMO to positively impact lives in Imo State and beyond.
“I shall remain committed to supporting any course that promotes good governance and the well-being of the people of Imo State. In view of this, I have decided to partner with The Mazi Organization, an NGO deeply committed to humanitarian services and improving the welfare of society,” he said.
Praising the two leaders for their bold step, TMO’s Director General, Chief Chukwudi Onwukwe (Apiti), commended their commitment to the redemption of Imo State through The Mazi Organization. “Your sacrifices in resigning from partisan politics and joining TMO demonstrate your dedication to ensuring that Dr. Chima Amadi becomes Governor of Imo State and improving the lives of the people,” he stated.
Onwukwe also highlighted TMO’s impact across the state, emphasizing its dedication to ushering in a better era for Imo. “TMO’s presence is felt in all parts of Imo State. Our focus is to ensure that Mazi Chima Amadi occupying Douglas House in 2027 becomes a reality,” he concluded.
