Tension are rising in the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency as pressure mounts on Hon. Akarachi Etinosa Amadi, embattled House of Representatives member, following a powerful open letter by former Imo State lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Uche Ogbuagu.

In swift response to the revelations and accusations contained in the viral letter, two prominent groups, Mbaike Watchdog (MW) and Concerned Mbaike Patriots (CMP), have thrown their weight behind Hon Uche Ogbuagu, demanding an immediate resignation of Engr. Akarachi Amadi, over what they described as “two years of loud silence, legislative absenteeism, and developmental sabotage.”

Addressing the press on Friday Morning in Owerri, the Leader of the CMP, Comrade Paul Ikechukwu Ezihe and the group’s Head Of Communications, Mazi Christian Okoro noted that, Rt. Hon. Uche Ogbuagu’s letter has exposed a lot.For two years, Hon. Akarachi Amadi has made caricature of our mandate. When you go through the House Hansards, You will marvel with rude shock No bills, No motions, No projects, No petitions, No voice of Mbaike in the Green Chambers. What are we still doing with Akarachi Amadi at the National Assembly?

Echoing similar sentiments, Comrade Tony Osuji, Spokesperson of Mbaike Watchdog and Prince Wisdom Mgbeahuru who spoke separately but in one accord, lamented what they called a catastrophic misrepresentation of Mbaike,” adding,  “we are backing Hon. Uche Ogbuagu not just because of his impressive track record at the State House, but because he dared to speak truth to power on behalf of our people. MBAIKE has never been this abandoned like a grave yard! It appears we are doomed! What we have now is a ghost representation at the National Assembly.

The groups pointed to Uche Ogbuagu’s enumerated projects during his tenure in the Imo State House of Assembly, noting that the lawmaker delivered over 60 percent of his impactful projects within his first two years in office, even when no dime was allocated for such by the State Govt,.compared to when over 4 Billion Naira has been allocated to Mbaike from FG thru Budget Appropriations, Projects, Interventions and Empowerment packages since Akarachi’s assumption of office in 2023, yet what we see is “zero footprints of federal presence under Akarachi Amadi.”

The letter, which has been widely circulated accused Hon. Akarachi of diverting public funds, purchasing luxury properties, and neglecting his legislative duties. It also raised questions about constituency funds and empowerment schemes allegedly hijacked or non-existent.

The groups announced plans to invite Hon. Amadi to address the Constituency, provide answers to some nagging questions and clarify the information contained the letter. They also hinted at setting up a high powered committee to probe the lawmaker’s activities since his inauguration without delay.

As the storm gathers and public pressure mounts, all eyes are now on Akarachi Amadi, whose flimsy response to the Open Letter, critics say, failed to provide concrete answers and did not address the critical issues raised therein.
