Former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ude Chukwu, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His decision was contained in a letter dated August 7, addressed to his ward chairman in Ndi Elu, Nkporo, Ohafia Local Government Area of the state.
“I write to formally inform you of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” the letter reads.
“You may wish to note that I am resigning due to personal reasons. While it was a difficult decision to make, it is the best course of action for me at this time.
“I am most grateful for the opportunities the Party availed me to serve at various levels and appreciate the experience and knowledge gained during my membership of the Party.”
Chukwu, who served as deputy governor between 2015 and 2023 under Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration, was said to have taken the step after a meeting with Abia State Governor Alex Otti, during which he reportedly endorsed Otti’s re-election bid.
