Ndidi: Why I Joined Besiktas

Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has broken his silence on why he snubbed interest from several top European clubs to sign for Turkish Super Lig giants, Besiktas.

The 28-year-old penned a three-year deal with the Istanbul club on Friday, ending his eight-and-a-half-year stint with Leicester City in the English Premier League.

Ndidi, who was courted by multiple teams across Europe this summer, said his decision was driven by a desire to embrace fresh challenges and a different football culture.

“Beşiktaş are one of the biggest teams in the country. I wanted to be here because I want to see a new environment, new people, and a new league,” Ndidi told Besiktas TV.

The midfield enforcer enjoyed a decorated spell at Leicester City, winning the FA Cup and Community Shield, but admitted that after nearly a decade in England, the time had come to try something new.
