Former federal lawmaker, Uche Onyeagocha, has launched a scathing attack on Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, accusing him of being fixated on Labour Party leader, Peter Obi, while neglecting his own political responsibilities.
Onyeagocha’s outburst came in response to a recent video in which Soludo declared that any politician who promises to serve only one term of four years should be subjected to a psychiatric evaluation.

“Please note that there are still politicians with integrity in Nigeria. Peter Obi is one of them.” Onyeagocha, a former Secretary to Imo State government wrote in an open letter dated August 11, 2025.
The former lawmaker recalled his own political history as proof of his point.
“In 2003, I was elected to the House of Representatives on the APGA platform. I promised my constituents that I would serve only one term. Despite pressures, I kept that promise and moved on. I didn’t need a psychiatric examination then, and Peter Obi doesn’t need one now,” he stated.
Onyeagocha insisted that many Nigerians trust Obi to honour such a pledge if elected president, adding that he could “lay an irreversible foundation for a new Nigeria in four years.”
He also criticised Soludo’s loyalty to his own party, APGA.
“In 2023, your party fielded Prof. Peter Umeadi as its presidential candidate, yet you never campaigned for him. Instead, you were busy attacking Peter Obi,” Onyeagocha said.
Onyeagocha’s fiery letter challenged Soludo to step into the presidential race if he believes he has better ideas for Nigeria’s future.
“Run against Obi in 2027 as APGA’s candidate if you wish. But stop letting your envy of Obi’s successes consume you,” he charged.
“Leadership is about integrity, not insults. Nigerians are watching, and history will remember those who kept their word — not those who traded in cheap shots.” Onyeagocha concluded.
