GII Raises Alarm: “Hold Chima Amadi Responsible If Any Harm Befalls Us Or Our Families”

by innonews

The Greater Imo Initiative (GII) has accused Chima Matthew Amadi of masterminding threats and intimidation against its members following its recent world press conference.

The group in a statement signed by its Secretary, Mark Adindu and made available to newsmen claims its executives have been stalked, harassed by persons linked to Amadi’s camp, in what it describes as a dangerous descent into vendetta politics.

GII declared that should any of its members or their families suffer harm, Amadi must be held personally responsible.

The organisation warned that Imo’s 2027 governorship contest must not be hijacked through intimidation, cult-like threats, or the revival of proxy battles from the past, stressing that democracy cannot thrive under fear and coercion.

The Full Statement

“HOLD CHIMA AMADI RESPONSIBLE IF WE AND OUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS ARE HARMED ” – GII

Since the Greater Imo Initiative (GII) addressed a world press conference on September 4, 2025, exposing the disturbing political activities of Mr Chima Matthew Amadi, our members have been subjected to alarming threats, ranging from subtle warnings to overt intimidation. These threats, some laced with occult references, have come from anonymous callers claiming to be close to Amadi’s camp.

One GII executive member was warned bluntly: “Leave that group now for your own safety. Chima Amadi will be governor of Imo State whether by hook or by crook, and nobody can stop him, not even Governor Hope Uzodimma. Do you even know that two sitting governors are backing him? Even some people in Uzodimma’s camp are working with him. And for your information, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has vowed to fight with the last drop of his blood and spend his last card to make Chima Amadi governor. No governor has ever produced his successor in Imo, and we’ll make sure it won’t start with Uzodimma. What is coming will overwhelm all of you.”

Another member was told, “How dare you ridicule our Brotherhood in your press conference? Be prepared to hear from us!”

Some members have reported being followed by strange vehicles. Others have had unknown individuals loitering around their homes. These developments point to something far darker than politics. They confirm what we feared: that Amadi’s campaign is not a democratic project but a proxy war of vendetta and mysticism.

What’s worse is the cult of personality surrounding Chima Amadi. He dresses like Okorocha, talks like Okorocha, walks like Okorocha, and flaunts cash like Okorocha. He appears to model not just his politics but his entire persona after the former governor, and that should worry every Imo citizen. We are now confronted with the possibility that Amadi is merely a well-funded front for an Okorocha comeback scheme fuelled by revenge, fetishism, ego, and brute force. And as these threats show, his camp seems more interested in domination than debate.

May we ask: What exactly has Imo State done to deserve this level of aggression? Why should the 2027 governorship race become a battleground for occult threats and power obsession? Is Chima Amadi so desperate that he is willing to tear through every fibre of decency and law just to satisfy the ambition of those who see him as their political pawn? Why should our state’s 2027 governorship be hijacked two years in advance by a man who behaves like a self-anointed prince, backed by dark networks and vendetta-driven godfathers?

For the record, GII has formally communicated these threats to the Nigeria Police Force. But we now also make this public warning: should any harm, no matter how slight, befall any member of the Greater Imo Initiative or members of their immediate families, Chima Matthew Amadi must be held responsible.

Our September 4 press conference was a goodwill effort to warn the public and call Amadi to order. We merely called attention to a disturbing trend whereby a strange man two years from any election is acting like a crowned prince, unleashing operatives, squandering cash, and issuing dark warnings to anyone who questions his path. As elders, we did what is expected in our tradition: we raised the alarm.

Sadly, instead of engaging the substance of our concerns, Mr Amadi’s camp resorted to threats, both in the physical and digital space. His followers have overplayed their hand. No man who truly believes in democracy threatens citizens with force, cult intimidation, or vendetta politics.

Imo belongs to her people, not to any cabal or godfather. Chima Amadi may believe he is untouchable, but Imo people have seen through this circus. As Imo people stopped Okorocha’s proxy 3rd term bid in 2019, so will Ndi Imo stop his new front, Chima Amadi, come 2027. Neither a Brotherhood nor the political backing of any ex-governor will shield Amadi from scrutiny or consequences. He cannot terrorise his way to Douglas House.

The Greater Imo Initiative remains firm. We will not be intimidated. We will stand our ground. And we will continue to defend the dignity and safety of Imo people.

Hon Mark Adindu
Secretary
GREATER IMO INITIATIVE (GII)
